Bodran, pl file your I-140 and your & sons I-485 immediatly..I am sure your I-140 will NOT take 2 years (as you are in EB3 ROW) to approve by which your son will be protected before he turns to be 21.
So, hurry up & file I-140/I485 ASAP and your son will be safe under CSPA (Child Status Protection Act). Also, pl read CSPA rule..I remember it was published on Feb 14, 2003...pl check..

Forgot to mention, my attorney did state that their office received an approval 2 weeks back whose priority date was not even close to current. She did not share the specifics.
I just checked my online status and it doesnt have any updates since 2007, states its received and pending... Not sure how current is the online info.

True, once the people realize that they are close to GC they forget all tasks and move on to the other forums (R2I or USC or whatever) there are very few who actually stay on and help add this to the fact that most of the EB3-I's got fed up with the nonsense going on (most were only looking for a sounding board to voice their dismay, instead they were reminded of the caste system). So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them. Each EB should talk to his/her HR and ask them to write a letter to their congressman/Senator it will have a bigger impact.

At least I won't give u red dots if you can enlighten us how to get us out of this mess. And yes, we do want our green card so I don't think we can stop the process or stop spending money on that. Also please advise us how to bring all 70K people under one umbrella?

Enough of this Gandhiian ways. This country is not good for people like Gandhi. May be Flower campaign got noticed and created a whole new experience for the USCIS, but i dont think it really helped them do anything in our favor. Already, folks here are wasting their money, year after year, on their EADs and APs for them and their family. Just think for a second guys, It costs us 1000 $ to maintain status on AOS and visit our family and this is going on indefinitely for our years now. USCIS/Congress does not want to do anything about this, They are happy to get the revenue. Even if you think a minimum of 200,000 people spending 1000 $ an year, it is 200,000,000 $. Iam not even considering the amount they spent on other things like H1B extension, H4s..... Just think about the Dollars they are making on this Green Card SCAM. Accept it or not, it is indirectly affecting our lives, even though, GC is not really important for lot of folks. Iam one such person, I have a good client and a decent employer and iam with the same folks for 9 years and they are happy extending my H1b at their cost. But still, this whole GC game, is sometimes disturbing. They are playing with our emotions and our loved ones. So, GUYS we need to take a bigger and bolder step. To me, Calling people, sending flowers and letters explaining the situation makes no sense. Do you think, those guys dont really know about our situation. Let us a make a bold move. We are 70,000 folks just here in ImmigrationVoice. Let us compile a letter,that pushes USCIS/Congress on improving the condition. As long as they get those EXTRA Dollars, i dont think anything is going to happen. Even if they remove the provision to apply for GC while on H1B, it is good for us, for we will know that in advance and can plan on shaping our future better, instead of this false promise and emotional torture. I think even AILA or other Lawyers are useless. They dont want to do anything for us. All they do is, interpret the LAW , and explain us in the way we can understand. They dont take steps to fight for the justice. All they care is the money. So let us make our point clear to USCIS, we dont want to waste money on EADs and APs and H1B extensions. To me, it should be free of cost, since it is their problem that they dont work efficiently. If this becomes a law, the USCIS will draft the rules. Definitely, those who are already in line will be allowed to use the recaptured visas and will pay the fees for that. They will also retain the PD.

What does it say on your I485 receipt notice?
For example.. my app was mailed on 5/31 and RD on receipt notice is 6/4 and Notice date is 6/6 and Online case status says received on 6/5. I assume 6/5 is when USCIS created an entry for my case and 6/6 (my checks were also cashed on 6/6) is when receipt notice is actually generated. Some one correct me if I am wrong.
My application was sent on June, 14th and delivered on June 15th (I have the FedEx tracking info and signature page confirming 6/15).
The case status online based on receipt number (obtained by calling them a few times until I got lucky) says:
"On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
Not sure if the online status is referring to the receipt date or the notice date when it says "On July 11, 2007, we received" when, in fact, they received it on June 15th!!

I did $100 donation and transaction Id is 4V64496321804025H. I have sent this information to all of my friends. There might be some people who want to donate but less than $100 one time donation.
My understanding is that IV is having around 24,000 members and even if everybody donates $2 then it will be around $46K. So if possible please send a mail to all the members to do at least $5 donation.

Your situation is similar to mine and I am sure lot more IVans are going thru the same.
I am in US for 10 years on H1b + EAD, and almost every day I attempt to weigh my options. It gets even tempting for people from India and other similar economies where finding a job is now piece of cake (for skilled worker). I also got carried away with American Dream and got into cars, house etc. assuming Legal Immigration is a sure shot in the land of opportunity, its just matter of time due to slow process but once you are in the line you are pretty much set. But now after so many years, situation doesn't looks that promising, especially after leaving what we had backhome, missing opportunities that other who-stayed have enjoyed, and now tempted to leave what we have build in US, brings me to square one. But I must solidify my ground before moving forward, and hence as long as I have job and I am confident that I will have a job no matter how bad economy turns, I will keep serving this country, and when I find that I have to make unreasonable sacrifices I will quit and happily goto any other booming economy, it could be India, Brazil, or any other country but with solid PR prospects, where I don’t have to giveup my career advancements, and I can plan for long term.

You are only waiting for 7 years. Wait time is calculated from Priority date not the date you enter the country.

Have you given a thought or spoken to a lawyer about starting EB2 PERM when your EB3 140 is pending? After your EB2 PERM is approved, you have 6 months before interfiling your EB2 140 with your EB3 PD. I think that is long enough for your EB3 140 too be approved.
AFAIK, this can be done with little or no risk to your EB3.

Way better than EB3-I/H1B in US....actually jumping out was the best thing I did before the GC train wrenk. This site keeps me aware of the latest changes in US immigration. After my wife's cad citizenship I might work in US even. Till then myself and wife...combined earn well
