This drive will precede the �Advocacy Day(s)� in Washington, DC and �Meet the lawmaker� drive in local districts. Members can use this phone call conversation with their local lawmaker offices to follow-up with lawmakers when they meet during the break just after the Memorial day.
Don�t miss this opportunity:
This is the perfect time to call the lawmakers. The bill needs a push via support from people like us and all lawmakers needs to be encouraged and urged to help us. There are indications that there will be lot of activity on immigration issues in both House and Senate after the Memorial day. We need to make those activities go in our favor and not die like the CIR bill in 2006 & 2007. Thus it is important to starting calling lawmakers, starting from the Senate members. I drove back from canada today. and I though I should post my experiance at the buffalo border crossing.
Drove up to the IO gave him my AP and passport. he gave me a token number and asked me to go into the office. Very polite. parked my car went into the office.
waited for about 40 minutes then they finally called me. the lady was very polite soft spoken she had already gotten all my papers ready like new I-94 card. stamp on AP and passport. She asked for my old I-94 cards I handed here all my old ones (i had about 6, since i first came on student visa then switched employers) i mentioned to her that I lost one of my I-94 would a photo copy work and she said yes thats not a problem. after she took all my I-94 cards stamped my passport with ap exiration date same on i-94. I mentioned to her that I will going back and forth to canada very frequently and she jokingly said then I will be seeing you alot.
No other questions were asked. the whole process went very smoothly.
O a friend of mine told me if asked purpose of visit outside US don't say vacation on AP that pisses the IO's because AP is only for emergencies originally.

I called Rep Lamar Smith office. The lady who picked up the phone asked me we are getting lot of calls. She asked me are you in supprot of the bill? I told her yes. I also told her that I am having master's degree from USA. My children are top student but may not get admission in some of NJ medical college just because we did not get GC since last 7 years. So we need help from Rep Lamar Smith to make USA more competitive. She also wanted to know that from where I was calling.

It does not make a difference to America, if a few hundred thousand foreign workers get their GCs today or 10 years later. The people America would really be concerned about are outstanding researchers, but then these people fall in the EB1 category which is always current and so they have no cause for complaint. The other category that the US is concerned about is cheap and illegal labor, but that is not related to GCs. So in short, there is nothing about the Eb2/Eb3 GC backlog that America needs to worry about.
The delay causes anxiety & frustration only for us applicants. So the impact is only on us.
America is not bothered about losing outstanding researchers.

ICICI is best if you have short term trip and wants to finish paper work quick. Even you can do it while sitting here , Only thing you need to send a Power of attorney from here through Embassy.
If you have long term trip and somebody known within SBI/LIC. Then their terms and conditions are too good. No Pre-payment Penalty.
There are less paper work involved if you buy it from Builder or First sale. You should be careful while buying second sale or most of the people ask Black money first , even before starting the bank paper work.

Don't expect anything from Nebraska Service Center today. Somebody from site who live few minutes away from NSC said that the parking lot at NSC is empty today. Yesterday, she saw that it was full from 7 to 12 nn but was empty in the afternoon.
What we can expect is only automatic LUDs. No overtime work for NSC. Have they used up all the FY2007 visas? They must have....if not, this fact can be used against them when we file a complain.
Its interesting to find someone 'tracking' the NSC parking lot this weekend!!:D

If I had my I-485 applications mailed on July 2nd and had it postmarked on July 2nd, but reached USCIS on July 3rd, according to USCIS, does that mean that my application was filed on July 2nd?

I have a suggestion! I don't think forcing monthly $25 contribution to keep donor status alive is a very good idea, especially in current economy. Take an example of myself. It is decided that I am going to loose job on 17th March, may not be able to contribute every month.
