Not sure what your concerns are my freind. My intentions were pure and as follows:
a) We have won a battle but war is far from over.
b) Whole point of being able to file 485 is to obtain interim benefits, if there are substantial delays then whats the point.
c) There are other priorities in the life and it will be unfortumate if those are hostages to EAD/GC/AP.
e) The reality of the situation might inspire people to make change happen.
Having said that, I would like to express my disappointment on your tone of the message. Unlike yours, my message was not personal in nature. Your comments made me feel bad. I urge you to please exercise restraint. We are a team here!
Preparing for future is one thing but if you think that this is a valuable thread then go with it and enjoy, i just find it disheartening that people are trying to undermine whatever has been achieved by such threads (Like i said, he might be completely right but is there a need to tell it this way) and what are you going to prepare for the future ;) Do you know it ? (If you do, please keep it to yourself and enjoy or cry about it). Right now, i want to be positive and enjoy the fruits of what IV has done to get some relief, why use negative logic to undermine it and that is what i am saying. Its not a rumor. This is real. Coming to think abt it, he had filed a labor in 2000/2001 time period and had abandoned it when he switched companies. I am wondering if USCIS takes the oldest one an applicant had ever filed.

I understand from your signature that you Receipt date is 7/2/07. was your case transferred to Vermont or something and transferred back to TSC. Do you know what was the Receipt date mentioned in the Transfer Notice. I am just trying to guess when they may come to my case. My receipt date for 485 was from Vermont and is 7/31/07. But then it was transferred back to Texas and this has a Receipt date of 10/1/07. I am just trying to find out which Receipt date will be considered to pre-adjudicate my application. Thanks.

I think what AILA, our core group and other attorneys are trying to say is that as long as you filed before May 15, 2007 you will be fine regardless of whether your petition is pending or approved. The 'effective date' ( Oct 1, 2008 ) does not apply for applications filed after May 15, 2007. I will be glad if you can prove me wrong :)

Thanks sy. I fully agree it's the agent we deal with. My BOA loan coordinator is extremely stubborn & doesn't have any clue regarding immigration. From day 1 she is stuck on unexpired I-94 & till today she asks me to furnish that. Everyone passes this stage. I was in the same boat sometime back and I did not think about applying for greencard.
When I reached 4.5years in my H1, my debts were not decreased. Infact it increased as I invested in India and in some tangile properties in US. So I thought I should stay here for more time to clear those debts. To stay for more time, I needed this stupid GC. It was needed atleast to extend my H1 to start with.
So my piece of advice for you is to start this process as it is not going to hurt you when you are mentally prepared to leave US. If you get it, it is good. If you dont get it, you have nothing to lose. At least you will the option to extend your H1 if you decide to stay for more time.
I am one of those guys who entered US in a very late age (I am 35 now...) and haven't even started the Green Card process yet. I wonder everyday "if" and when the process gets started..how many years it would take to get GC (may be 5 to 6 years..correct me if I am wrong)...and after getting the GC..wait for another 5+ years to get Citizenship...I will be close to 50...ouch
Well, as of today I don't feel like applying for GC...I realized my dream of coming and working in US...now the plan is to spend 4 to 5 years, clear my debts (yeah......running into thousands of dollars)...make some money to live peacefully in India..thats it....then go back to India....
And its not just the family or friends...95% of my cousins and 90% of my friends are in US (trust me it is a large number)..except for parents and in-laws (and uncles, aunts)...every one is here...but I hardly get a chance to meet them...b'cos no one wants to take some time off to meet cousins/friends (unless you are in drivable distance)..I don't blame them (or me)..since we all want to save our PTO to visit India....
I just wish..if I can spin the time wheel back...I would never think of a foreign country....(even though I am new to US..I spent about 8 years abroad in other countries already)..
I don't feel like concluding..hence leaving this incomplete...

This is nothing but a typical desi mentality coming out from all of us. We all want to get everything for free or at a discount. Each dollar is saved to be transferred to India or to buy larger flat screen TV than our friends at home. :)

As I understand we (i.e IV) has 21000 members and 14000 active members. If even each active member contrubute $ 20 per month, that would be $ 420,000 per month or about $ 5 Mn per year.
Imagine the miracles that we can do with that kind of fund!! And I am damn sure that we can afford $ 20 per month. Cost of few gallons of gas per month.
Non contributing, active members! Please wake up atleast now and do some soul searching!!!

Beware of HR 5924, this bill is planning to set aside 20k EB3 visa's for nurses instead of the current 10K. If EB3 folks loose focus and fail to push for recapture bill and somehow HR 5924 is passed. EB3 will be doomed.
Getting HR 5882 / S 3414 (recapture bills) through congress is the only hope for EB3's.
Changing the spillover will not help EBI because in both the spillover interpretations EB3I is the last in the chain. The only reason EB3I benefited from earlier spillover interpretations was because there weren't any ripe EB2-I cases available and it spilled over to EB3I. Reverting to the old spillover interpretation will not benefit EBI but sure it will benefit EB3-ROW.
Let us focus on getting the recapture bills through. Call u'r congressman/senator and start pushing for the recapture bill. EB3I has been benefited until now because of the AC21 recapture. Now it is time for another recapture.

Once they accept I-485 in the system then they give us a Receipt#, with that Receipt we can file for EAD / AP (as long as your PD becomes available) then they will process your I-485, Just thinking.. what do you say guys ... Please lete me know.. Receipt Date Vs Visa Number ...

You can file EAD/AP together with 485. That's how I did (actually I140 PP was in the same package too). Sent on 6/21 to I140PP address. Had all the receipts beginning of July.

All other recipts so far were either received at 9 AM or 10:25 Am or so (july 2nd, 3rd, 5th etc) but none of them were at 7:55 AM.
